The project is a research project on the politics in modern Iran (funded by the German Research Foundation).

Job description:
• Preparing regular reports on the requested topics;
• Participating in the empirical phase of the project, particularly in data collection and analysis;
• Coordinating, conducting, and transcribing interviews;
• Organizing and preparing interview materials for analysis (using qualitative research software and AI-powered tools);
• Assisting in the standardization of all materials and data for qualitative data analysis;
• Participating in data collection from social media platforms;
• regular monitoring and analysis of relevant online networks related to the project;
• Supporting the analysis of these and other datasets using appropriate software and AI tools;
• Other routine, research-related coordination tasks within the project.

Requirements:
• Completed academic university degree (Master’s or Magister) in a relevant subfield of the Social Sciences, such as Sociology, Political Science or Modern History with focus on Iran (or a closely related field)

Desirable:  
• Very good proficiency in Persian (C1)
• very good proficiency in English (C1)
• very good proficiency in German
• good Knowledge of political sociology and social-movement studies
• good knowledge of modern (post-revolutionary) Iranian history, and recent social movements in Iran
• Familiarity with Iranian media and social networks
• strong understanding of qualitative social science research methods
• Familiarity with discourse-analytical approaches and media/content analysis methods; and at least basic competence in qualitative analysis software, AI-supported tools for social-media and text analysis, and applications for transcription and interview/media-content analysis.
