For admittance to the master’s program applicants need to prove the following admission requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 20 credit points in German literatures as well as in linguistics.
• The DSH - or German Language University Entrance Exam for Foreign Students - is mandatory for all applicants whose first language is not German and who have achieved their initial degree at a university (or equivalent institution) where the language of instruction is not German.
The master’s program ‘German as a Foreign Language: Cultural Studies’ focuses both on the linguistic level of language teaching and on topics and methods of teaching literature and culture of German-speaking countries. A maximum of 25 students are admitted per year. An important part of the study program is the third term spent abroad at a partner university where students participate in seminars and develop, engage in, and reflect on their own teaching.
