The Freie Universität has partnerships with about 170 universities worldwide. Students who are interested in spending a semester or year abroad at one of these partner universities can apply for one of the following direct exchange programs. During the application process, a ranking of your preferred universities within each regional program can be made in the application form (up to ten preferences within a regional program are possible).

It is possible to apply for up to three different regional programs in one academic year.

Applications for the Erasmus+ worldwide program have the same deadlines and the same application procedure as applications for the direct exchange program.
