Organizing your studies also includes planning the financing. Students can take advantage of various funding opportunities if they meet the respective requirements.

The best known option is the funding under the Federal Training Assistance Act - Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (BAföG) (in German). Berlin students should contact the BAföG Office (BAföG-Amt) at studierendenWERK BERLIN directly for advice and to submit an application. Students can also apply for start grant for studying there under certain conditions.

Questions regarding student financing and general and social law can be clarified at the Student Financial Counselling of the studierendenWERK BERLIN or the AStA.

High-achieving and talented students can also receive support through the Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship). In addition, there are various private and public foundations that target very different groups and usually support scholarship holders for special academic or social achievements - not only financially, see:

Students can finance their education with a loan. Before doing so, it is essential to gather information and compare the various offers available. Education loans can be obtained through the federal government's education loan program (Bildungskreditprogramm der Bundesregierung - in German) or the KfW development bank (KfW-Studienkredit - in German). Additionally, there are numerous private credit institutions. You can discuss this option with the Student Financial Counselling of the studierendenWERK BERLIN.

As a non-profit organization, the Loan Society for Students (Studentische Darlehnskasse e.V.) of Freie Universität Berlin can temporarily support certain target groups with a loan.

Freie Universität publishes job offers for students in its Stellenanzeiger. In addition, there is a job and internship exchange at the Career Service of Freie Universität Berlin and there is the student job placement service "effektiv" (in German). StudierendenWERK BERLIN also has a job portal (stellenwerk - in German). If you want to start your own company, you can get support from Freie Universität's „profund" start-up funding.
