The university library is committed to a quality-assured, fair and sustainable transition to open access. By providing financial support for the open access initiatives and infrastructures listed below, we aim to strengthen the diversity of the academic publishing landscape and give authors greater visibility and freedom of choice when publishing their research. In line with the diamond open access model, authors incur no publication costs with the funded initiatives.

- Berlin Universities Publishing: non-commercial open access publisher, publisher-independent support
- Specialised Information Service (FID) / Education Research Portal: open access e-book package
- KOALA Consortium for the Social Sciences (2023–25): journals GENDER, sub\urban, Open Gender Journal, Forum Qualitative Sozialforschung
- MIT Press Direct to Open: approx. 90 OA books per year
- Millenium Studies: Studies in the culture and history of the first millennium C.E.: De Gruyter open access series
- Open Access Transformation Packages by De Gruyter: German Literature, German Linguistics
- Open Book Publishers: funding for the non-commercial open access publisher
- Open Library Media Studies by independent academic publisher transcript: approx. 13 open access publications per year
- SCOAP³ Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics

- Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB): community-driven discovery service for scholarly, peer-reviewd open access books
- Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ): unique and extensive index of diverse and qualified open access journals
- DSpace Consortium Germany: community supporting the open source software DSpace
- Open Commons of Phenomenology: international open access platform and index on phenomenology (texts, series, journals)
- ORCID-DE: support for the implementation of ORCiD at academic institutions
