General information
The Dissertations Department is the central submission office for dissertations that must be submitted as archive and exchange copies in accordance with the doctoral regulations of Freie Universität Berlin.
Doctoral candidates are required to make their dissertations accessible to the academic public in an appropriate manner through reproduction and distribution (Beschluß der Kultusministerkonferenz vom 30.10.1997: "Grundsätze für die Veröffentlichung von Dissertationen") .
The doctoral candidate’s obligation to submit copies is based on the applicable doctoral regulations in the version valid at the time the doctoral procedure was initiated. Deviations from these regulations are only possible - where permitted at all - on the basis of a resolution by the faculty council (see also Doctoral Graduation Regulations).
The Dissertations department supports you as a doctoral candidate in familiarizing you with the relevant regulations. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
If the number of copies and the formal formatting requirements comply with the regulations, the Dissertations Department will issue an acknowledgement of receipt. This acknowledgement serves as a prerequisite for the issuing of the doctoral certificate by the respective faculty.
