Editorial volume

The conference will result in an edited volume that explores how universities are redefining their roles as spaces of scientific, political, and societal transformation in the context of sustainability, multiple crises, and contemporary “vibe shifts.” It focuses on questions of governance, responsible research, science communication, and transformative teaching, highlighting their relevance for the future of sustainable higher education. The contributions address both institutional challenges and practical approaches, ranging from living labs and interdisciplinary research to new narratives and participatory formats.

The publication is aimed at authors from academia and university administration as well as transfer partners working on sustainability projects in or with higher education.

The volume is edited by Daniela Niesta Kayser, Andreas Wanke, Rebecca Rongstock, Susanne Stein, Karin Bauer-Leppin and Holger Dau.

Expressions of interest for submissions may be directed to Prof. Dr. Daniela Niesta-Kayser.

The diamond open-access publication is scheduled for July 2027.

Further information will follow soon.
